LEGS IS GOING VIRTUAL FOR 2020!
As you likely all saw this coming, our Legs for Literacy event will have to be put on hold for 2020 to respect the GNB’s Mandatory Order to withhold gatherings until December 31st, 2020. However – and we are very excited about this – we are currently working on a virtual run edition! We want to make good on our promise to offer you an event in 2020, and we want to invest our giving power in supporting active learning and literacy initiatives in our region. If there was ever a time where our education system needs our support to face the current challenges, this is it friends! Stay tuned for more information coming soon !

COVID-19 Update
Dear Runners, Walkers and Friends of Legs,
We hope you are all keeping well in these challenging times. Our thoughts go out to all who are deeply affected and to the organizing committees of neighboring sports and cultural events that are currently having to make difficult decisions in the face of the rapidly evolving situation. Given the gravity of the situation, Legs for Literacy will delay opening our registrations until, at least, the State of Emergency in New Brunswick has lifted. Rest assured of our commitment to offer you a great event in the fall and of our efforts to keep moving things forward through these unstable times. We will keep you informed of any developments on our end regarding the launch of our registrations process in the next couple of weeks. In the mean time, stay healthy and take this time to connect with others who might need some extra support (with the appropriate social distance, of course 😉). It is from our experience of putting this event on for twenty years that we know this community is strong and compassionate: Let’s get through this together!

We're back and we've given ourselves an Executive Director for our 20th anniversary!
We are happy to announce that we are back and we have hired an Executive Director to lead our 2020 activities! Ariane Juneau-Godin has officially joined us mid-February and has extensive experience planning large scale events in the city, she is an avid cyclist taking part in many Grand Fondo events, and she's looking forward to join the Legs for Literacy team :
"I want to express how extremely excited I am to take on this wonderful challenge. I have had the opportunity to meet most of the board members and am very thankful for the chance to be the first Executive Director of Legs for Literacy. From the few conversations and meetings we've had so far, I feel fortunate to join such a dedicated group of people, who have voluntarily led this event for 20 years! What a feat! I can't wait to dive right in and be part of an event that is essential and so dear to our city and our community. I will do my very best to live up to the trust you have confided in me!"
Welcome on board, Ariane!

Half Marathon Distance
We were made aware of a possible issue with the 2017 Half Marathon distance. The integrity of our course measurements and runner experience is very important to us. In looking into the matter, we have determined that the 2017 Half Marathon was long by 128.6 meters due to human error on the placement of a turn-around marker. (Note: this does not impact the distance of the Full Marathon or the 2016 Half Marathon.) On consultation with RunNB, the finish times and distances will remain as they are for this event. We are sorry for any confusion and disappointment this may have caused. Please be assured that we have identified measures to avoid the same issue next year.
